چکیده

Fifty-two spontaneous canine mammary gland tumours (fibroadenomas, n = 8, tubulopapillary carcinomas, n = 9, solid carcinomas, n = 6, anaplastic carcinomas, n = 7, fibrosarcomas, n = 9, liposarcomas, n = 9 and osteosarcomas, n = 4 were analysed by computer-assisted nuclear morphometry on Hemacolor-stained cytologic specimens. One hundred nuclei per lesion were examined. Computerized cytomorphometry was performed and the values of nuclear perimeter for investigated neoplasms were assessed. The statistical analysis revealed significant differences between all tumour types (ANOVA/LSD post hoc test, p<0.05). The results indicated that computerassisted nuclear morphometry could be used as an additional tool in the preoperative differentiation of benign from malignant canine mammary gland tumours.

Computer-assisted Fractal Analysis of Spontaneous Canine Mammary Gland Tumours on Cytologic Smears

Fifty-two spontaneous canine mammary gland tumours (fibroadenomas, tubulopapillary carcinomas, solid carcinomas, anaplastic carcinomas, fibrosarcomas, liposarcomas and osteosarcomas) were selected and analysed by computer-assisted nuclear fractal analysis on Hemacolor stained cytologic specimens. Computerized cytomorphometry was performed and the fractal dimension of the studied nuclear surface...

Quantitative Cytomorphology as an Additional Tool for Differentiation between Canine Cutaneous Sebaceous Adenomas and Sebaceous Carcinomas: a Preliminary Report

Eight canine cutaneous sebaceous adenomas and eight canine cutaneous sebaceous carcinomas were analyzed by computer-assisted nuclear morphometry in Hemacolor stained cytological specimens. In each case, the nuclei of at least 100 neoplastic cells were measured, and the mean nuclear area (MNA), mean nuclear perimeter (MNP), minimum nuclear diameter (D min), maximum nuclear diameter (D max) and m...

Evaluation of Nuclear Morphometry and Ki-67 Index in Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinomas: a Five‌-Year Study

Background and objective: Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma (CCRCC) is the most common adult renal neoplasm. Staging and grading of RCC are important predictors of survival. Fuhrman nuclear grading is widely used for CCRCC, the subjective nature of which has prompted more objective methods to evaluate nuclear features. Furthermore, Ki-67, a reliable marker of cellular pr...

Morphometric Analysis in Breast Lesions A Rapid Conjunct to Intraoperative Imprint Smears

Abstract Background: Breast carcinoma is the most common malignant tumor and leading cause of cancer deaths in women. While fine needle aspiration cytology is highly accurate in the diagnosis of breast lesions, it possesses certain drawbacks. In those circumstances intraoperative imprint cytology assumes importance, however, imprint cytology is subjected to interpretative errors. Computer image...

Nuclear Morphometry in Relation to Metastases in Canine Spontaneous Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinomas

In a retrospective study on cytological specimens from 17 dogs with histologically confirmed cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, the morphometric variables were studied and compared to metastases in regional lymph nodes. The morphometric parameters evaluated in this study were mean nuclear area (MNA, μm), mean nuclear perimeter (MNP, μm), mean nuclear diameter (D mean, μm), minimum nuclear diame...
